Project Manager AI

Project Manager AI

Why work at HKS?

Teamwork, personal development and innovation are woven into the culture of HKS. Working at HKS means plenty of opportunities, with consideration given to your personal development and growth ambitions.

Do you want to work together towards a safe and sustainable future, while also achieving your professional ambitions? Then come and work at HKS and make a difference every day at the market leader in metal recycling! HKS is part of the Remondis/Rethmann group.

Your role

If you are an innovator, someone who dares to look ahead and is inspired by pioneering technology, then this position within the HKS Group is the challenge for you!

The recycling industry is at the beginning of a huge development. As a supplier of secondary raw materials, the HKS Group plays a key role in this. To remain a market leader, we do not want to follow but to lead the way.

That’s why we’re not looking for a Project Manager who just checks off a few boxes. We’re looking for a technical pioneer who sees opportunities, explores new technologies, and works with colleagues, suppliers, and specialists to develop solutions that will permanently change our production.

You are part of a team of seven project managers and work closely with the branch managers and technical and operational colleagues of HKS and Mirec. You have the freedom to explore, test and scale new ideas. Think of robotization that makes work safer and smarter, AI solutions that recognize and sort material flows, detection technology that recovers valuable metals and data applications that make processes more predictable and efficient. Sometimes there is already a clear question, sometimes it starts with your curiosity: what could be done better here and what technology can make the difference?

The projects take place at various locations of HKS Scrap Metals and Mirec in the Netherlands and Belgium. Your field of work is the entire HKS Group.

What are your main tasks?

  • You discover and research new technologies and translate them into concrete applications within production and operations.
  • You lead innovative technical projects from initial concept and pilot to implementation and transfer.
  • You build convincing business cases and project plans with clear objectives, risks, planning, and budget.
  • You connect operations, technology, IT, suppliers, and management and bring people along in the process of change.
  • You help guide the HKS Group’s innovation agenda and actively monitor developments outside our organization.

We offer

  • A rare opportunity to be part of building technological innovation with a significant impact within the HKS Group and the metal recycling industry from the very beginning.
  • A lot of freedom, responsibility, and space to experiment, learn, and make your ideas visible.
  • Collaboration with involved colleagues, technical specialists and external innovation partners.
  • A market-competitive salary and good secondary employment benefits, including a lease car, corporate fitness and a bike scheme.
  • 27 days of holiday and 13 ADV days based on 40 hours per week.

Your profile

  • A completed technical higher-education degree, for example in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial automation, mechatronics or technical business administration.
  • Experience with technical projects in an industrial or production environment.
  • Affinity with robotics, AI, machine learning, smart sensors, vision technology, and data analysis.
  • An entrepreneurial and creative way of thinking: you see opportunities, make them concrete and get things moving.
  • Conceptual thinking ability and the drive to actually realize ideas.
  • The ability to maintain an overview, make sharp choices, and connect different disciplines.
